Hyderabad: As there is a need for setting up more palliative care centres, particularly in the rural areas, the State government is open for collaborating with voluntary organisations to make this a reality, said Telangana Minister for IT and Industries D Sridhar Babu.

After handing over electric vehicles to Sparsh Hospice in Hyderabad on Tuesday, the Minister emphasised that palliative care has not been acknowledged as a vital need for the society. He assured government’s support in facilitating this transformation.

“With the support of voluntary organisations, the government will enhance palliative care services in its hospitals, ensuring greater accessibility and quality of care. The dedication and selfless service of doctors and healthcare professionals in the field of palliative care deserve the highest recognition and appreciation,” he added.

Sparsh Hospice Centre for Palliative Care is a project of Rotary Club of Banjara Hills Charitable Trust, which extends free-of-cost palliative care services to terminally-ill patients through in-patient, out-patient and home-care services. The fleet of three green cars (four wheelers) and three green bikes (two wheelers) worth Rs 51 lakh was donated by Jaguar Land Rover and Badruka Trust and commissioned by

Sridhar Babu.
